the dogs and cats of the SPA are looking for their Valentine

“At the SPA, they are all looking for a serious plan. It is with this humorous little wink that the Society for the Protection of Animals wishes to attract new adopters during this Valentine’s Day. A communication campaign that wants to be all the more eye-catching as the usual open doors during the weekend of the lovers’ day will not take place, Covid obliges.

The shelters, these “meeting platforms”, will nevertheless welcome this weekend families who wish to adopt to give a second chance to these furballs, often abused by life. All the more so in this period when the abandonment of dogs is increasing. “With the crisis, some are losing their jobs or even their homes and as a result, they can no longer keep their animals”, explains Gaëtan Dannenberger, head of SPA de Thionville.

Thirty dogs and thirty cats in search of “great love”

At the Thionville refuge, thirty dogs and thirty cats are waiting to meet “the great love”. Responsible people ready to make a lasting commitment with their new four-legged friend. Because it must be remembered: an animal is not a toy, nor a soft toy. The staff of SPA Thionville intends to hammer it to future adopters. “At each placement, we inform them of all the characteristics of the animal, we advise them, we do not want there to be any surprises, underlines Simon, one of the employees. If it is a dog who has a particular behavior, which lacks framework, they are advised to contact a dog trainer. And a follow-up visit is made a few months after the adoption to see if everything is going well in the new home. ”

With this Valentine’s Day operation, the SPA de Thionville also wishes to highlight animals in SOS. For these, no fixed contribution is required and the refuge can, in certain cases, contribute to the costs incurred for the care. Among all the candidates for adoption in the Thionville center, the red cat Bello, the dog Fistik and the Belgian shepherd Jack are impatiently waiting to meet their companion for life. Maybe this weekend …

Thionville-Œutrange SPA refuge open Saturday February 13 and Sunday February 14 from 1:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. Contact: 03 82 50 31 45.
