The Official Gazette of the Generalitat de Catalunya (DOGC) has published the obligation to display the badges for the VTC
Order 31/2021 of February 3, published by the DOGC, establishes the obligation to wear the badges of Transport Vehicles with Driver (VTC) domiciled in Catalonia.
The activity of renting vehicles with a driver has been the object, progressively and at the rate of its growing presence in the field of public transport of people, state regulations, the Generalitat de Catalunya and local entities, which have introduced new elements in your ordering.
The objective has been, on the one hand, the setting of new conditions related to hiring, derived from the use of telematic platforms and their differentiation from the taxi service, and, on the other hand, the establishment of other conditions related to the limitations set by the regime of shifts and periodic breaks.
To improve the conditions of control and verification of compliance with these standards, the Generalitat considers it necessary to configure a new distinctive and require its mandatory use, as a tool that offers external transparency to vehicles and in the same activity and that visually facilitates the task of control and verification of compliance with the aforementioned conditions.
Consequently, this order establishes the obligation that vehicles with authorization from VTC domiciled in Catalonia have a distinctive that indicates the authorization number in accordance with the established formats.
Article 1 of the order indicates that vehicles with VTC authorization domiciled in Catalonia will have a badge indicating the authorization number.
Thus, the green badges correspond to vehicles with an authorization number ending in an even digit and the badge format with a red background corresponds to vehicles with an authorization number ending in an odd digit.
This badge shall be affixed so that it is visible to the lower left of the front windshield of the vehicle.
According to the Conseller de Territori i Sostenibilitat, Damià Calvet, through the order, the badge is delivered to the person who owns the VTC authorization by the competent territorial transport services for the granting of this authorization, once it proves that it is the holder of the corresponding authorization.
For this purpose, the holders must request the distinctive to the competent territorial service, within a period of two months from the date of entry into force of this Order, unless it has already been delivered to them by the Administration.
«A representative of the person holding the authorization or of a representative association of the sector, duly accredited for this purpose, may collect the badge. The loss or deterioration of the badge will lead to its replacement, so a new copy will have to be requested from the competent territorial service ”, indicates section 4.
Likewise, the breach of the obligation to wear the badge, its inappropriate use or its placement in a place other than that provided for in this Order will be sanctioned in accordance with current regulations on passenger transport by motor vehicles.
