It is a small Christmas miracle: a man who has been missing for five days was found on Christmas Eve by a forester’s dog in the Schauinsland south of Freiburg.
A forester’s dog discovered a missing man after five days in the Schauinsland forest south of Freiburg and thus rescued him. A large contingent had been looking for the man for days.
According to a spokesman for the Black Forest mountain rescue service, the 40-year-old had injured his leg and was no longer able to walk. The Freiburg man was taken to a clinic with the rescue helicopter’s winch. “A big hit for us so just before Christmas,” said the mountain rescuer.
It was the third successful assignment of the Black Forest experts in the week before Christmas. Incidentally, a hiker was rescued in the middle of last week who had endured the freezing cold in the dark near Oberried (district of Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald). The 47-year-old threatened to fall into the steep forest until she was rescued by helicopter, according to police. She had been hiking but by nightfall she had lost her bearings. Also, her cell phone battery was dead.
