Tommy Edman and Will Smith hit homers to send the Dodgers to the World Series with a 10-5 victory over the New York Mets Sunday night in Los Angeles.
The California team, which won the National League Championship Series in six games, will now face the New York Yankees in the World Series.
This will be a 12th clash, but the first in 43 years, between the two prestigious teams in the ultimate series. The Yankees have defeated the Dodgers eight times.
It will also be an opportunity to see the two best home run hitters this season, Shohei Ohtani (54) and Aaron Judge (58), one against the other.
Ohtani, in his first season with the Dodgers after signing a 10-year, $700 million contract last winter, had two hits and scored twice in Game 6.
Dodgers reliever Blake Treinen struck out Brandon Nimmo, Mark Vientos and Pete Alonso in the final two innings to record the save.

The Dodgers briefly trailed 0-1 before seeing Edman start. He drove in the team’s first four runs with a double in the first and a homer in the third.
The Dodgers outscored the Mets 40-26 in six games. None of the games were close, and the Dodgers shut out their opponents twice.
The Mets were still just two wins away from making the World Series after a 22-33 start this season.
