Patients with COVID-19 can develop so-called post-coronavirus fungal infections, which can cause serious health complications and can delay the healing process.
Infectious disease doctor Tatyana Loginova issued a warning. On the air of the channel “Ukraine 24” she commented on the information that India has had coronavirus began to become infected with a rare “black fungus” (mucormycosis).
“People were treated not only with steroids, but also with antibiotics. The latter also give dysbiosis of the body. In this case, these fungal infections can develop against the background of antibiotic therapy plus corticosteroids, which suppress inflammatory processes,” the specialist explained.
She emphasized that mucormycosis can indeed affect not only the eyes and nasal cavity, but also the lungs. This is a very serious post-coronavirus infection that delays recovery from COVID-19.

According to her, dysbacteriosis caused by Candida albicans and Aspergillus fungi are most common in Ukraine. These infections are most common in immunocompromised people and vegans.
