The panel of DNA Singers, this week consisting of April Darby, Jeroen van Koningsbrugge, Jaap Reesema and Lex Uiting, is a mystery. Lex and Jeroen in particular are in the dark about the question which famous Dutchman is related to Cato. However, Jaap soon seems to know: “But I’m not going to mention a name.” Lex begins to suspect where to look. “I think someone from ‘t Gooi,” he says, still somewhat hesitantly.
But as soon as Cato and her mysterious relative perform a duet in which only their silhouette can be seen, the audience and panel are suddenly convinced. “Yes, one hundred percent,” Jaap exclaims. “With those moves, this can’t be anyone other than Bastiaan Ragas,” April adds.
Under the deafening applause of the audience, Bastiaan indeed appears on the scene. “I was especially nervous for her, but she is very relaxed. And I stand there like a straw behind it,” said the beaming father. “I’m glad we didn’t sing out of tune because that would have been embarrassing,” Cato adds with a laugh.
Cato is not only blessed with a famous father, but also with a famous mother: Tooske Ragas of course. She is one of the faces of the SBS 6 program Show news. Half-brother Sem is now also known; at the beginning of this year he can still be seen together with father Bastiaan in Race Across The World. However, he does not seem to aspire to a career in the media, because Sem is currently studying at the hotel school. Will Cato follow in her parents’ footsteps?
