The DMK, “it’s over”!

The double event recorded last week, more precisely on April 10 and 14, the creation of the Dynamics for the Majority of the People and the designation of new leaders of the Dynamics, Monsignor Kpodzro, completed the convincing of public opinion, of the inability of part of the Togolese opposition to remain faithful to its line of conduct. For a long time.

Certainly, the posture of a political group born in an electoral context that is now anachronistic, and still clinging to the claim of an imaginary victory for its candidate, more than three years later, became comical.

In fact, the claim that the DMK carried, no longer made sense, with the departures into exile of Agbéyomé Kodjo, whose candidacy it carried during the presidential election of 2020 and of Monsignor Kpodzro, its inspiration. Moreover, summarizing and conditioning the existence of this group to this electoral claim, were no longer tenable, with regard to the news which announces new electoral deadlines.

To operate a moult to adapt and participate in the next legislative elections even if we continue to pretend to reject the organization of regional elections as inappropriate, was no longer an option but a choice of reason. Unless you opt for political suicide. Pure and simple.

The political schism that occurred within the DMK, with a good part favorable to participation while the other remained faithful to the classic line, could therefore only lead to the disintegration of this politico-electoral grouping.

But, beyond all the logic that may have prevailed at the end of the classic DMK adventure, the approach of Dame Adjamagbo and others questions political ethics, since without having obtained the return of the exiles or the release of the political prisoners in general or those of their rank in particular, they abandon ship and sacrifice literally and figuratively, the latter, in the name of their electoral ambitions.

The debate is therefore no longer just the classic one, of deja-vu, which has always opposed the ” participationists ” to ” non-participationists “, in the Togolese political landerneau. On the occasion of electoral contests, the debate between the ” moderate ” and the ” nonists », inveterate followers of the electoral boycott, with all its harmful implications. This time, this debate goes far beyond…

We bet then that if the DMK no longer represented a political force, amputated by several of its members, it is sinking further, the capacity of its brand new leaders revealed since Friday, April 14, to mobilize and create a balance of power policy with the power in place appearing questionable.
