Some time ago, information leaked that DJI is preparing a successor for its successful model Mavic Air 2. The Chinese manufacturer eventually surprised when it launched the new drone a little earlier. In the end, most speculations were confirmed, though not to the letter. The novelty is called DJI Air 2S. So the letter “S” was chosen, which indicates the upgrade of products also Apple. In addition, the name was shortened overall because the word “Mavic” fell out. As before with the smaller model DJI Mini 2.-

At first glance, the DJI Air 2S looks very similar to the Mavic Air 2. So the design is not what the manufacturer would focus on during the upgrade. Instead, the camera was significantly upgraded. The drone was equipped with a larger, one-inch sensor that can take up to 20 megapixel photos or 5.4K videos at 30fps. If you are satisfied with 4K, it is not a problem to reach 60 fps. The video bitrate has also increased to 150 Mbps. Recall that the predecessor used a 1/2 “sensor capable of capturing a maximum of 12 megapixel frames or 4K videos with 60 fps and a bitrate of 120 Mb / s.

Also new is the 4x digital zoom in 4K at 30 fps (Mavic Air 2 offered only half). If you switch to 2.7K or 1080p at 60 fps, the 6x zoom option will also open. The maximum 8x zoom can be achieved in 1080p mode with 30 fps. You can choose from three color profiles – standard 8-bit and two 10-bit (D-Log or HLG). Videos are stored in 8GB of internal memory. However, due to various improvements, the drone gained a little weight. The weight stopped at 595 g, while the predecessor weighed 570 g.

In addition to the camera, the novelty could also gain grams due to new sensors preventing collisions. Instead of two, it contains four, as well as the anti-collision algorithm has been improved. Once again, a number of modes are available, including one novelty. Thanks to the MasterShot function, the drone can create effective videos of the selected object by itself. Just set the square area in the application and select one of the themes. Thanks to a combination of pre-programmed flight paths and intelligent adjustments, the drone will take care of the rest. ActiveTrack 4.0 object tracking has been upgraded. In addition, there are also Spotlight 2.0 and Point of Interest 3.0 modes, which are nothing new.
DJI Air 2S uses OcuSync 3.0 video transmission technology, which works at a distance of up to 12 km, but lacks support for Goggles V2.0 and Motion Controller accessories from the drone DJI FPV. However, there is still hope that this feature will be added at a later date. As of today, the DJI Air 2S is sold on the Czech market for CZK 27,000. Once again, the Fly More Combo set is also available, which includes, for example, three batteries, a rechargeable dock, ND filters and a shoulder bag. Its price was set at CZK 35,000. The previous Mavic Air 2 model will also remain on sale for the time being.-
