However, a suspect has been identified, a 36-year-old man named Sylvain L. identified through the suspect’s brother and sister-in-law.

The suspect attempted to take his own life
Nowadays, the suspect is currently between life and death. A party animal without limit to the excessive consumption of alcohol and narcotics
Thanks to the couple’s hearing at the gendarmerie, we learn that the 36-year-old man had been living in Brest since 2017 and combined jobs in the catering industry. One of his relatives confirms that he was still employed in recent weeks as a cook in a Brest establishment.
If his entourage describes him as a handsome boy rather “seductive, playful and smiling”, it was a well-known face of the Brest nightlife, used to concert halls and festivals. However, some who met him regularly in the evening remember a man accustomed to excessive consumption of alcohol and narcotics.
A psychologically unstable but “non-violent” man
Sylvain is also not completely unknown to the police since, still according to information from the Parisianin early January, a police crew would have come to Sylvain’s home, for suspicion of domestic violence. The neighbors had made a report after hearing the screams of his new companion.
