The district office wants to get more money from its communities

Because of its precarious financial situation, the district of Bayreuth wants to collect significantly more money from its 33 municipalities. The so-called district levy is to be increased by two point five percentage points this year. In any case, this number is in the draft budget for 2023, which District Administrator Wiedemann has now presented to the district committee for the first time.

Two point five percent sounds acceptable at first, but that can ensure that some communities run out of breath. A few tens of thousands of euros are quickly gone and there is no money for investments. On the other hand, the district office needs the money, because personnel expenses alone are increasing considerably this year. Cost drivers here are the refugee movement and more and more tasks in the social sector.

District Administrator Wiedemann has now also used the presentation of his budget to appeal to the Bavarian state government to support the districts more.
