The authority had already announced the step 14 days ago because the numbers – including for Herten – would hardly be meaningful.

Nevertheless, at this point we are once again providing the current status of things in terms of the pandemic for our city. In the past seven days there have been 81 officially confirmed newly infected people – by far the highest number in the district. For comparison: According to the district health office, just 5 new infections were registered in the largest city of Recklinghausen. The incidence in Herten rose to 130.8 (+32.3) on Friday (March 31) – this is also the highest value of all ten cities. The district mean was 41 (-31.8).

However, all the statistics are probably lagging enormously, since hardly any self- or PCR tests are carried out anywhere – and new cases therefore usually remain undetected. Of course Corona is not over – but the good basic immunity contributes to the fact that many people are now surviving the disease much better or have no symptoms at all.

35 patients in the RE district in the hospital

However, a certain number of sick people still have to go to the hospital. In the period from March 27th to 31st, 35 Covid 19 patients were treated in the clinics in the district area – six fewer than in the previous week (41) – as inpatients. Of these, there were always eight to ten patients (the value fluctuates daily) in an intensive care unit (previous week: two to five patients).

The incidences of Herten and the neighboring towns (As of March 31, in brackets the value of March 24):

• Deer: 130.8 (98.5 / +32.3)

• Recklinghausen: 4.5 (54.2/ -49.7)

• Marl: (151,7 / -133,8)

• Gelsenkirchen: 26.1 (49.2 / +23.1)

• Herne: 19,2 (38,3 / -19,1)
