The representatives of the Ministry of Health sent on Tuesday, December 8, through a press release, the fact that the Ministry of Health completes the distribution of the doses of influenza vaccine purchased for the influenza vaccination campaign from 2020 – 2021, the last doses of influenza vaccine will arrive in of December 8 and 9 at the public health directorates, and later in the family doctors’ offices for the further immunization of people at high risk of illness.
For this season, approximately 3 million doses of influenza vaccine have been purchased, double compared to last year.
“Within the annual free influenza vaccination campaign of the Ministry of Health, people over the age of 65 are immunized, with priority, with chronic diseases, especially respiratory and cardiovascular diseases, metabolic diseases, institutionalized children and the elderly, medical staff, such as and pregnant women, according to the recommendations of the WHO and ECDC ”, the communiqué states.
The vaccination campaign takes place through family doctors’ offices and in beds with sanitary units.
The vaccine doses were distributed to the public health directorates in several stages, starting with September 14, and until November 29, 864,796 people from the risk categories were vaccinated during the campaign, and at national level. , there was a decrease in cases of acute respiratory infections in the 48th week of monitoring, respectively 31,874 cases, by 27.4% less compared to the previous week, when there were 43,954 cases.
According to the mentioned source, “so far there has been only one case of influenza confirmed with the laboratory and no death confirmed with influenza virus”.
