Lana is already thinking about repeating a year
Lana, 18, is getting ready to return to college for one day a week, like all first-year students. She is not optimistic for the rest: “We are growing up, and society is moving forward so we have to move forward too. We cannot remain blocked as they are blocking us now”, she denounces.
Taking the online courses is complicated for the student who is already thinking about repeating a year. “Since college, we are only told about graduate studies, they want to push us to higher studies. When we arrive at higher studies, we are told that we cannot go to university… It’s illogical! “

But how to live when the accounts are in the red? Victoire draws on her last savings. “I see my school future practically being reduced to nothing! If I do well I have a year ahead of me or I wanted to go further than that … I have the capacity to study and I am private. “
Suicidal thoughts for 20% of students
An investigation by the student union Union Pirate Rennes 2 reveals thatone in five students has had thoughts of suicide these last months. For 56% of students surveyed, the situation has deteriorated since November. “Isolation is even more important for students who are sometimes alone in their city, and who do not know anyone but who do not have the choice to stay”, analyzes Nathan Guillemot of the Union Pirate union.
The student union receives many requests for help. “Students, overnight, had no more news of a classmate in their class, a classmate who had very good grades and who suddenly gave no sign of life, says Nathan Guillemot. These students, who knew him a little but not a lot, because when we don’t have the opportunity to see each other a lot in real life, we don’t necessarily know people, said to themselves “we have no way of finding him, we don’t know how to find out how he is”.
