The dispute between the caretaker Minister of Health Prof. Stoycho Katsarov and the Pirogov Emergency Hospital continued today with new charges. It started after the minister changed the director of the health institution Prof. Assen Balton on the grounds that under his leadership there were reported medical activities that were not performed, as well as reported patients who were not treated in the hospital.
During the week, Katsarov announced that and he was among the fictitiously treated patients. Pirogov denied this as well showed documents, with allegations that they were prescribed by him and proved that he was treated.
I found out that I had been treated for a diagnosis of cirrhosis a month after my check-up. On March 1, I asked for a copy of Pirogov’s documentation. According to Katsarov, the director of the hospital is responsible for such false documents. “That’s why I fired him. Trying to justify doing me a favor by not paying for something I’m entitled to for free is absolutely ridiculous,” the health minister said.
According to Katsarov, the court will decide who and how will be punished for such falsification.
“The case shows the condition of the healthcare system after 10 years of GERB rule,” the minister added. According to him, the coronavirus crisis has not been managed properly.
Meanwhile, at a briefing today, GERB announced that Stoycho Katsarov had failed as a minister. “Mr. Katsarov, you have failed,” said the former Minister of Health to the current Minister of Health, Dr. Stoycho Katsarov, during a GERB briefing. Former Minister of Health Prof. Kostadin Angelov accused him of lying about his treatment at Pirogov.
