Actress Sigita Pļaviņa has sued the Liepāja Theater in court, claiming that the termination of the employment contract should be declared invalid, reports the portal liepājniekiem.lv, referring to the regional newspaper “Kurzeme Name”.
The actress has sued the Liepāja Theater in court, demanding that the termination of the employment contract be declared invalid, reinstated at work, as well as compensation for moral damage. The newspaper “Kurzemes Vārds” found out that the claim mentioned 10 thousand euros.
However, the Kurzeme District Court in Liepāja did not start hearing the case on Wednesday. S. Pļaviņa asked to postpone it, because she needed more time to prepare for the court hearing, to submit counter-evidence regarding the arguments mentioned in the explanation of Liepāja Theater, as well as to conclude an agreement with a sworn lawyer on the provision of legal aid in court.
S. Pļaviņa also wants to supplement the claim application. In court, she indicated that she intended to present various pieces of evidence, both in written and audio form, and that she wished to ask for additional witnesses to be called. Evidence will be about forgery of documents, conflict of interest, disclosure of false information to Latvian media, etc.
The court decided to postpone the hearing until November 4, while noting that both parties have the opportunity to reach a settlement.
It has already been reported that at the end of July, the actress announced on the website Facebook that after 29 years of work she was fired from the Liepāja theater, noting that the disagreements with the theater manager deepened when she did not want to be vaccinated against Covid-19.
The director of the Liepāja Theater, in turn, pointed out that S. Pļaviņa was dismissed for not coming to work again and refusing to follow the orders of the board.
