The sick people have been taken care of and their state of health does not cause concern, specifies the ARS.
This Monday, October 23, at the end of the day, the Regional Health Agency reported the discovery of two cases of indigenous dengue fever, namely that the infected people have not recently traveled to tropical areas. She specifies: “The sick people have been taken care of and their state of health does not give rise to concern. Faced with these cases of indigenous dengue and to avoid the spread of the virus locally, preventive actions are deployed in Montpellier in the residential area of the Estanove district.” Including door-to-door.
The first two cases in Hérault
As a reminder, dengue is a generally benign illness whose symptoms, similar to those of the flu (high fever, joint pain, severe headache), can be temporarily disabling. This disease is transmitted through the bite of a tiger mosquito (Aedes albopictus) previously infected with the virus from a person during their illness.
“These two cases of autochthonous dengue fever are the first recorded this year in Hérault and the 22nd in the Occitanie region since the start of the surveillance season (May 1),” concludes the Regional Health Agency. Note that a case of non-indigenous dengue fever was reported at the end of September in Saint-André-de-Sangonis.
