The two Saudi Arabian sisters Asra Abdullah Alsehli (24) and Amaal Abdullah Alsehli (23) were found dead in their respective beds in their apartment in Sydney on 7 June.
It was the police who found the sisters in the apartment when they had been contacted and asked to check if the women were all right.
The police estimate that the girls died at the beginning of May. But despite several inquiries, the police do not know either how or why the sisters died.

According to the newspaper The Sydney Morning Herald moved the sisters from Saudi Arabia in 2017 to Australia and applied for asylum. However, the police do not want to confirm this, because they do not comment on private information about the status of asylum applications.
The police state that they have been in contact with the sisters’ family, who are assisting in providing the police with information.
Lina al-Hathloulhead of monitoring and communications at the Saudi human rights organization ALQST, says BBC that it should be established whether the women fled Saudi Arabia because of domestic violence, or the oppressive laws in the country.

However, it is not known why the sisters fled to Australia.
Furthermore, she says that it “will not be the first case” of Saudi women being killed abroad after fleeing domestic violence.
– There is no protection for women who are victims of domestic violence in Saudi Arabia, so they had to flee abroad. I’m not saying that’s the case here, just that we need a thorough investigation. It is frustrating not to have any information, she says to the BBC.
