Professor. Montagnier attended college in Chatellerault and then studied at the Universities of Poitiers and Paris. In 1972. He entered the Pasteur Institute in Paris, professor of virology since 1975. After receiving the Nobel Prize in 2008. Montagnier began to make controversial statements and took positions that the scientific community rejected. In 1982. Willy Rosenbaum, a doctor working at the hospital “Hôpital Bichat” in Paris, asks to study the possibility that the cause of the mysterious new syndrome, which was later named AIDS, is a virus. Rosenbaum played a crucial role in the detection of the HIV virus, because he often expressed his hypothesis at scientific conferences that the source of the disease was viral, and even did a biopsy of his patient’s lymph node, where the virus was detected.
In 1983. a group of researchers and doctors led by Montagnier and Francoise Barre-sinuses discovered the virus that causes the disease. Initially, the virus was called LAV (lymphadenopathy-associated virus). A year after a group of American researchers led by Robert Gallo confirmed the discovery, the virus received a new name HTLV-III (human T-lymphotropic virus type III).
In 1990. Montagnier denies that HIV can cause AIDS itself. He claims that HIV needs a cofactor, which he says is mycoplasma. Most modern scientists do not share this vision, reminds BGNES.
