There are days of anxiety from Milan to Sweden due to the disappearance of the young 20-year-old striker, Emil Roback, who went on loan from Milan to IFK Norrköping last March. In fact, there has been no news from him for 14 days. As I write Swedish mediaRoback was never seen again on the training pitches and the club has no idea where he might have ended up.
The fear of the sports director
The sporting director, Tony Martinsson, said he had tried and tried to contact the young Roback but so far there have been no positive results. “I want to know that he’s okay. It’s worrying that we can’t find him but I don’t know what else we can do,” he explained. All the concern of the club, his teammates and also Milan depends on having totally lost track for 14 days now and no one knows what could have happened to him. At the moment, in fact, there are no witnesses who have reported to the police saying they saw him, he really seems to have vanished into thin air. “I want him to come back here, we have to find a plan that can work. I haven’t given up hope that he will return but it’s hard to imagine him when we haven’t seen him for 14 days,” Martinsson underlined.
The Swedish experience
Roback gave an interview to a local newspaper in August, saying that the Scandinavian experience wasn’t going the way he wanted. “It didn’t go as expected, I say so myself. I’ll take this experience as it comes. Then it also depends on the coach, but I always try to give my best”, he declared to Norrköping’s newspapers.
Roback’s career
Emil Roback was born on May 3, 2003 in Norrköping but his origins are Gambian. A 1.88 meter tall striker, he began his career in Hammarby (2019) and then landed in Milan in the summer of 2020. At that time he was already considered one of the purest and clearest talents in Swedish football. After a year of experience at Milanello he was loaned to Nordsjaelland, a Danish team, before returning to Milan in January 2023. A couple of months later, here is the loan that the Rossoneri made to IFK Norrköping which will expire in a few weeks when his return to Milan would be expected according to the contract that binds him to the Rossoneri club for another two years, until 2025.
In his short career up to now he has three appearances and three goals with the Swedish Under-16 national team and five appearances with one goal with the Under-17s: his market value updated to June 2023, according to Transfer marketis estimated at 200 thousand euros.
