Directorate General of Prisons (Ditjen Pas) Kemenkumham spoke after being criticized by Hotman Paris regarding the new penal code for the ‘wet fields’ of the Kalapas. The general directorate of the arrangements ensures that his party will manage the system in a transparent way.
What Hotman meant by “wet fields” of Kalapas is article 100 of the new penal code. The point is to explain to give death row inmates a 10-year probation period to do good in prison and the sentence will be changed if they behave well. This determination of good conduct is known and issued by the head of the prison in which the convict is languishing.
The Directorate General of Prison Affairs stressed that, in order to implement the new Criminal Code on behavior, the Directorate General for Prisons cooperates with outsiders to determine whether the death row inmate is in good conduct or not.

As for the evaluation of good behavior, it is done by a system called the Prisoner Development Evaluation System or SKPN,” said the public relations coordinator and of the protocol of the General Directorate of Grazing, Rika Aprianti, to the request for confirmation, Saturday (10/12) /2022).
Rika pointed out that the assessment of “good behavior” for death row inmates was carried out by a number of officers who carried out training courses in prisons and parties outside prisons.

The new penal code provides for a 10-year probation period for those convicted of doing good in prison, and the sentence will be changed if they behave well. Hotman Paris believes that this article will become a “wet” camp for prison bosses (kalapas).
“If he doesn’t behave well, he will be sentenced to death. What does that mean? The chief of staff who issues a certificate of good behavior will be a very wet place,” Hotman told Kopi Johny, Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta, on Saturday (12/ 10/2022).
“Who would not pay a sum rather than be shot to death? Side business. It’s the same with corruption, right? Two-thirds of Kalapas issue letters of good conduct,” she continued.
