After a long illness, director Dušan Klein, who was behind the legendary film series Poets or the beginnings of the endless series Street, died. He was 82 years old. His son confirmed the sad news of TN.cz.
Well-known director and screenwriter Dušan Klein is after his death, he was 82 years old. “Unfortunately, Dad died unexpectedly yesterday (Sunday) around seven in the evening. He fought a serious illness for a long time,” said TN.cz his son David.
Klein is signed mainly under the comedy film Hexagues Poets. He directed the first part of How the World Lost Poets in 1982, the last sequel How Poets await a Miracle was created in 2016. In addition to it, he also wrote all the screenplays.
One of his most visible works in television is the endless series Ulice. Klein stood at his beginnings in 2015. “He must have remembered a lot. I remember when my dad and I were there when they set up the studio, when it was built.” said the director’s son.
His other films include the drama The Good Pigeons Return or the comedy Dear Friends, Yes, or The Wedding on the Battlefield.
Klein was born on June 27, 1939 in Michalovce, Slovakia. Due to his Jewish origin, he was imprisoned as a child in the Terezín concentration camp. He first appeared in front of the camera in the 1950s, and later studied film directing at FAMU. From the 1970s to the 1990s, he worked in his studies at Barrandov. After the Velvet Revolution, he began to focus more on television. Since 2002, he has been teaching film, television and photography at FAMU.
He was survived by Silver’s wife and two sons.
