The director of the San Cristóbal prison, Chiapas, is arrested

Tuxtla Gutiérrez.— Ministerial police detained the director of the penitentiary center of San Cristóbal de las Casas and two other officials, identified as Juan “N”, Fredy “N” and Jaime “N”, respectively, for the crime of illegal exercise of public service and proper performance of public service.

The apprehension of the three is linked to the death in his cell of Adolfo Gómez Gómez, who was arrested in mid-July for the alleged crime of trafficking in persons, as part of the investigation to locate the minor Dylan Esaú.

Enereida Gómez Sánchez, Adolfo’s daughter, assured that after the arrest, her father spoke to her to ask her to get 50 thousand pesos that “the bosses in the prison” were asking for.

His father warned him one Sunday that they required him to deliver the money by noon next Tuesday. “I replied that it was very difficult, because we are very humble,” accused the woman.

In the operation where Gómez Gómez was captured, the police also detained his wife, Josefa Sánchez Gómez (Enereida’s mother) and three other women, whom they accused of the crime of human trafficking and allegedly 23 minors were located.

Enereida assured that her parents and the three most arrested women – her sister María Hortencia and her sisters-in-law, Juana Montejo González and Maribel Gómez Sántiz, accused of human trafficking – are street vendors of handicrafts in San Cristóbal de las Casas.

The victim’s daughter demanded the release of the inmates and the restitution of the 23 minors to their families.
