Accompanied by references from different oncology programs, she emphasized joint work with the province for the greater benefit of patients and praised the public health system of Formosa
The doctor Patricia gallardo, director of the National Cancer Institute (INC), visited Formosa, where she participated in a series of activities, from which she learned about the approach that the provincial public health system carries out in the treatment of cancer and the care that is given to patients suffering from this disease.
“It is the first time we have visited the province. We are working in an articulated way in everything that the institution is and its different screening programs to continue drawing up joint strategic actions ”, said Gallardo.
Regarding health actions in the province, he said “we know that they are doing a very great job, that they have a long history in the territory. We come to strengthen, to value what already exists and to try to articulate with the things that we have as the Ministry of Health of the Nation ”.
In relation to this type of work, he pointed out that it is a strategy promoted by the Minister of Health of the Nation, Carla Vizzotti, who “permanently encourages us to be side by side with the provinces to accompany and carry out joint actions”.
He explained that with some provincial areas and programs “we have already been coordinating and with others we still have a long way to go, with enthusiasm and with many ideas, such as, for example, pilot tests and works in the territory. This is only the first step of the strategic lines that we are going to articulate in a planned way ”.
He valued the health system, qualifying it as “very consolidated. We get a very positive impact after having known and observed what they do both in the first, as in the second and third level of care ”. And he thanked the Governor and Minister Aníbal Gómez “for having received us and for having carried out the articulation of this important work that is being carried out on cancer and palliative care in the province”, with a “federal and territorial” perspective.
Video conferencing
As part of the agenda, together with the national references of the Cervical Uterine Cancer and Palliative Care programs, he led a meeting by videoconference that took place in the e-health room of the High Complexity Hospital “Pte. Juan Domingo Perón ”, which was attended by the minister in charge of the Ministry of Human Development, Aníbal Gómez, authorities from this portfolio and directors of the hospitals in the province.
At the virtual meeting, representatives of the national programs for Breast Cancer, Colon Cancer, Lung Cancer, Oncohematology and Oncology Genetics were also present by zoom connection, who joined to publicize the guidelines and proposals to continue improving the joint task that has been done in order to optimize the quality of care for cancer patients.
For their part, the provincial referents reported on the actions that are being implemented for the treatment of cancer, which continued despite the context of a pandemic; At the same time, they presented those that will be carried out in the second half of 2021 and the first of 2022.
Nuclear Medicine and Radiotherapy Center
The scheduled activities of the day, concluded with the visit of the official to the brand new building of the Center for Nuclear Medicine and Radiotherapy, which is part of the mega project of the Sanitary Pole and which will be used exclusively for the care of cancer patients.
Gallardo was pleasantly surprised by the modern infrastructure and by the advanced equipment and state-of-the-art technology that the place has, which will be used to comply with the indicated treatments.
