After months of internal crisis, Yann Le Bras said on Monday that he had “the guarantee of having tenured practitioners”, even if he is still looking for “replacements”.
The situation of Chicas de Gap is improving. A few weeks ago, 33 emergency physicians, worried about the quality of their hospital’s healthcare offer, sounded the alarm. Today, Yann Le Bras, director of the hospital, is confident for the future. Even if in April, “the supply of care was almost faulty,” he admitted, before confirming that care was now provided.
In recent months, the hospital has been going through an internal crisis, against the backdrop of a conflict between two surgeons: Doctor Hammami and Doctor Norotte. The first denounced a controversial surgical practice used by the second: disc cementoplasty. Asked about this subject this Monday on the set of BFM DICI, the director did not wish to speak.
This internal crisis caused many sick leaves and departures of surgeons which could have jeopardized the quality of care offered by the hospital.
“This work is ongoing”
“From the moment when the conflict, despite several attempts at mediation, grows, (the goal) is to avoid having repercussions for the hospital and behind for the patients and the populations”, underlines Yann Le Bras.
“My job, currently, is to ensure the functioning of the hospital this summer, in particular in a specialty, orthopedic surgery, he explains. I am guaranteed to have tenured practitioners who will be there, and I must complete with replacements. (…) This work is in progress, I am very confident that there will be an offer of care this summer “.
Arrived in September 2015 in the Hautes-Alpes department, Yann Le Bras should leave the management of Chicas in the coming weeks to take over as head of the Toulon-Hyères hospital.
