“Smile – Do you see it too?” offers viewers everything they would expect from a shocking horror classic: gore, jump scares, psychological terror. The film has repeatedly caused a sensation causing extreme reactions from the audience in cinemas. It is also said that there were occasional fainting spells.
„Smile“-Regisseur Parker Finn is watching you!
In an interview with TV Movie Online, writer-director Parker Finn revealed that he’s snuck incognito to sold-out “Smile” screenings several times to witness the behavior of viewers firsthand. The 35-year-old is fascinated by what he has observed.
“You can feel the audience become the puppet of the film. When I was there there was a lot of interaction between the audience and what was happening on screen. You may hear people collectively holding their breath or tensing up. They squirmed in the seats or jumped up nervously,” she reports proudly. This is exactly what she hoped for from her film. “It’s just fun to walk into a horror movie and have an audience scream together at the screen. There’s a great thing about the sense of community that comes with showing horror movies in theaters.”

Parker Finn celebrates the fact that some people react so strongly to the film. “The movie was designed to get a physical reaction out of people and I love that it drove people physically crazy as well,” he laughs. “Smile, do you see it too?” Start September 29, 2022 in German cinemas and can still be seen. The strip will soon be available for home cinema too! Paramount will release the horror film on Ultra HD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc on December 15th. “Smile” should also be available on digital platforms such as Amazon Prime Video from December 1, 2022.
