Resignation bomb at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and a “slap” to the Minister of Foreign Affairs Giorgos Gerapetritis and Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
The 1st Director General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Rousos Koundouros, resigned as a sign of protest to the ongoing implementation of the secret agenda of talks with Turkey, which is against the country’s national interests.
Mr. Koundouros reveals with his letter a hidden agenda and exclusion of experienced and competent diplomats in the Greek-Turkish dialogue.
As stated by Mr. Koundouros in his letter, revealed by pronews.gr, in the recent meeting of Foreign Ministers Giorgos Gerapetritis and Hakan Fidan on November 8 in Athens, he himself was not invited to this meeting, and this in a mismatch with the Turkish delegation.
At the same time, the ambassador emphasizes that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs did not take into account any of his concerns about the existing Greek-Turkish dialogue, even though he had expressed his views in writing before the meeting on November 8.
He also complains that due to the lack of transparency and information, he is unable to fulfill his duties, even in communicating with counterparts from third countries who ask questions.
As can be seen from the letter, Rousos Koundouros complains that very serious issues of Greek-Turkish and Greek-European relations were not taken into account.
