The “direct dialogue” between social partners initiated by Minister Mariatou Koné since taking office in 2021, is still continuing to improve the quality of Ivorian schools.
Mariatou Koné was in front of union representatives and management staff, this Monday, October 16, 2023, at the National Center for Scientific Materials (CNMS), in order to strengthen consultation for a healthy and peaceful environment as well as the credibility of Ivorian diplomas at the ‘outside.
To do this, she asked her hosts of the day to work to maintain the school climate always peaceful, ensuring that she wanted to congratulate them for their commitment in this direction. Because it is thanks to a peaceful school that the time limit is respected.
The Minister of Education urged them to stay the course, while inviting them to continue to get involved and do their best to prevent the school environment from being disrupted by violence and course interruptions. A concern well understood by union officials.
For Jérôme Ourizalé, a union official, this fits well with their aspirations, because their wish is to “take a very active part in improving” the Ivorian education system, which can only be done in a permanent dialogue with the supervisory authority. .
In addition to the issue of school climate, several other topics were discussed by both parties. These include, among other things, good collaboration between central management and social partners, career profile, financial issues, and that relating to the use of school textbooks.
On this last point, she clarified that the school textbooks have not been changed since 2012, contrary to rumors circulating. This is why she made everyone aware of strict compliance with government instructions by avoiding making mistakes with publishers in order to use manuals other than those recommended by the ministry.
At the end of these frank exchanges, the two parties agreed to meet again shortly.
