The direct connection between Warsaw and Ostrava has started, the region will pay over 20,000 crowns for each flight

For the first time, a plane from the Polish airline LOT Polish Airlines flew to Ostrava on a regular flight from Warsaw. It will fly five times a week with the contribution of the Moravian-Silesian Region. The Embraer E170 registration SP-LDI took off at 22:58 with a total of thirteen passengers on board. The plane landed at Mošnov Airport after 39 minutes of flight. The course of the flight is on Flightradar24.com.

He published it just before the start contract with a Polish carrier in the register of contracts. The five-year contract provides for the possibility of paying up to 4 million euros.

In the contract, the region undertakes to “financial investment” in the amount of 400 thousand euros per year. It can be doubled if the number of flights is increased from five to ten rotations per week. For each flight (not rotation), the region will pay less than 21 thousand crowns in terms of the current euro exchange rate. At the same time, the carrier is to receive a discount on airport charges at the region-owned airport in Mošnov, but their amount is not stated in the contract.

One year notice

According to the contract, the carrier undertakes to deploy an aircraft for at least 76 passengers, ie either Embraer E170 or Bombardier Q400. The region has the opportunity to speak to flight times. LOT carriers will pay quarterly. If nothing extraordinary happens, the region has the opportunity to terminate the contract with at least one year, the carrier half a year. In the first year, moreover, only if the average occupancy falls below 35%. The Moravian-Silesian Region has long tried to attract carriers to its airport; several competitions for the operation of routes in the public service obligation ended in fiasco.

The region has also adjusted the timetable for bus line 333. From the Ostrava bus station, the bus will leave for the airport at 3:43 every day when the line is scheduled for operation. He will leave Mošnov at 0:25. The bus will wait up to an hour for a possible delayed plane.

The only regular line

The LOT flight will be the only regular flight in Ostrava, Ryanair will not fly to London over the winter and its return in the summer is not entirely certain. Compared to the original plans, the carrier adjusted the flight schedule for better connection to other flights in the Polish capital. They will also deploy a more comfortable aircraft: they will fly the Embraer E170 instead of the Bombardier Dash 8 Q400 turboprop engine.

LOT will be in Ostrava with an airplane overnight, which will significantly improve the availability of the entire network for passengers from Ostrava. He always lands in Ostrava at 11:55 pm after an hour-long flight from Warsaw every day except Saturday and Tuesday. It will fly from Ostrava every day except Sunday and Wednesday at 5:25 with arrival at 6:30 in Warsaw. The original plan was to fly during the day. With an early departure from Ostrava, passengers will catch the morning departure peak from Warsaw to most European destinations. Prices for return tickets start at around 1900 crowns.
