the dip from the bike at 210 km / h saved his life

Fans and fans of the MotoGP remained in suspense after the images of the Yamaha destroyed and burning against the protective barriers during the Styrian GP. A terrible scene, with the sigh of relief coming shortly after when the cameras lingered on Maverick Vinales which, fortunately, had the readiness to jump off the bike at 210 km / h, after realizing that his brakes are broken. A decision made in a split second that literally saved the Spaniard’s life. In fact, what would have happened if Vinales had stayed on his M1? Just thinking about it makes you shiver.

MotoGP, what happened to Maverick Vinales at the Styrian GP

It is the 17th lap of the MotoGp Styrian Grand Prix. Maverick Vinales already struggling with problems arrives very fast to a braking. Brake problems for the driver who decides to let himself go on the asphalt, breaking away from his motorbike running at 210 km / h. The images are impressive and very strong, with the Spaniard rolling on the asphalt, while the M1 finishes at full speed straight by straight into the protective barriers. In the post-race Vinales declared that he was literally left without brakes: a situation that already in advance forced him to jump through hoops to control the bike, and avoid the impact with those in front. With the pills now gone, the rider understood that on that short straight stretch before the corner he could not do anything but abandon the Yamaha also because there was no risk of ending up against the other colleagues who had already distanced themselves.

In fact, what would have happened if Vinales had stayed aboard his M1? The images of the bike left without a rider speak for themselves: the impact with the protections occurred at more than 200 km / h was devastating, to the point that the M1, in addition to crashing into pieces in the front part, caught fire. This is enough to highlight that, if the pilot had not drastically decided to let himself go on the asphalt he would certainly have remedied serious damage even risking his life. A bit like what happened just a week ago, again in Austria when Zarco’s bike passed very close to him and he could have taken it in full. If in that case the luck turned out to be on the side of the Spaniard, this time the credit is all his for having courageously decided to jump off the bike at very high speed to avoid worse problems.
