Maincare changes hands. In order to strengthen itself in the digital transformation of the health sector, Docaposte will buy the French software publisher for hospitals, the digital subsidiary of La Poste announced on Monday.

The current owner of Maincare, the investment company Montagu Private Equity, confirmed this information. The operation must however still be submitted for the approval of the Competition Authority, specified the two companies in two separate press releases without information on the amount of the acquisition.

Docaposte, the leading health data operator in France

Maincare, which recorded a turnover of more than 80 million euros in 2022, counts among its thousand customers 80% of university and regional hospital centers in France, but also regional health agencies, insurers and mutual insurance companies. . Docaposte, for its part, has a turnover of 826 million euros for 2022. It claims more than 40,000 customer companies and administrations but also the place of the leading health data operator in France, with more than 45 million medical records. .

With this operation, Docaposte’s objective is to “improve the use of” medical data. This subsidiary of La Poste seeks to become a central player in secure digital services. It had already entered into a partnership last June with the AstraZeneca laboratory to create a platform for hosting and analyzing health data and had already made several acquisitions to strengthen its position in the health sector.

“Going towards more predictive” in health

“The merger with Maincare is part of a strategy aimed at giving back care time to healthcare professionals through the optimization of data”, indicates Docaposte, also emphasizing the issues of compliance, security and data sovereignty. health. These data will be used to “move towards more predictive and develop decision support for health professionals”. According to Docaposte CEO Olivier Vallet, “the merger with Maincare marks an important step in Docaposte’s health strategy, which we have made a priority area for development”.
