It’s time to look at it from the other side.
Many foreign fairy tales became hits in the USSR. This is the merit of Soviet translators and animators. So, with the cult Carlson, a particularly interesting story turned out.
Soviet and Russian children grew up on emotional cartoons about the Kid and his funny friend with a propeller. Here, Carlson is shown as a sweet and charming hooligan who is able to melt everyone’s heart. But in his native Sweden, this character is considered negative.
The local public looks at Carlson from a completely different angle. This hero, in their opinion, is infantile, rude and selfish. As soon as some problems begin, he immediately “runs away” out the window, leaving the Kid alone to clean up the consequences of pranks. And Carlson constantly takes the most delicious and tidbits for himself, as if he has every right to do so. What is not a description of a negative hero?
In Sweden, the rebel Pippi Longstocking is much more loved, which, like Carlson, was invented by Astrid Lindgren.
