The Different Lives of Atiek CB: Living in America and Indonesia

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com– Singer Atiek CB lives a life which he calls very different between in Indonesia and in the United States.

Living for 21 years in America with her husband and two children, Atiek CB lives life as a housewife.

“I haven’t worked for five years, just taking the kids to school, going home, dropping them off at school, picking them up, cooking,” said Atiek CB, quoted from YouTube’s Ferdy Element.

Once her husband suggested Atiek to find a job so he wouldn’t get bored.

“My husband may make mesake (pity) seeing how stressed I am, right? He’s used to singing, ‘yes, you’re looking for a job over there,'” she said.

“What kind of job, high school graduate, except for working in a shop. I ended up working in a shop like retail, big retail,” he added.

While working at the retail store, Atiek often met Indonesians who asked him to take pictures.

But Atiek was never ashamed of his job there as a retail store employee.

“Once, ‘I want to take a photo,’ luckily I’m not wearing a uniform,” he joked.

“Often like that, there are a lot of Indonesians. (Yes, I am) ignorant, what to do, the important thing is that you work, you don’t have prestige,” he continued.

Having two different lives makes the singer who is famous for the song titled “Worry” sometimes feel sad but still try to enjoy it.

“It’s fine here, Cinderella, there (American) Upik Abu. I sometimes wonder, sometimes they ask for autographs here, while they work in a clothing store, it’s like the earth and the sky,” he said with laughter.

“Sometimes there was a feeling of sadness at that time. But in America I have to be realistic to survive mentally, I have to do something,” he continued.

For your information, the singer with the real name Atiek Prasetyawati was diagnosed with bipolar disorder by a psychiatrist in the United States and is currently undergoing regular treatment.

Meanwhile, it is known that Atiek has decided to quit his job as a shop employee because he feels that he no longer finds happiness in his job.

“I’ve been unemployed for 10 years,” said Atiek.

“What do you sometimes do, I don’t like working like this. I don’t enjoy being unemployed anymore, let alone getting older, my husband also never orders me to work,” he continued.
