The difference between Ukraine vs Russia claims about sending messages via Jokowi is a question mark

Jakarta

Different statements between Ukraine and Russia regarding the deposit of messages from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy or Zelensky for Russian President Vladimir Putin is a question mark.

Is it true Zelensky leave a message for Putin through President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) as also conveyed by Russia? Or, the message deposit did not exist, as Ukraine claims?

Jokowi initially conveyed the message after meeting with Putin at the Kremlin, Moscow, Russia, on June 30, 2022. The day before, Jokowi first met with Zelensky in Kyiv, Ukraine.

In his meeting with Zelensky, Jokowi offered to be Zelensky’s messenger to Putin. It is not known what message Zelensky then left. However, after meeting Putin, Jokowi admitted that he had conveyed a message from the Ukrainian President.

“I have conveyed President Zelensky’s message to President Putin and I conveyed my readiness to be a communication bridge between the two leaders,” said Jokowi when delivering a joint press statement after meeting Putin on the Presidential Secretariat’s YouTube broadcast, Thursday (30/6/2022).

The Ukrainian government then responded to a message from Zelensky for Putin. The spokesman for the Ukrainian president, Serhii Nikiforov, said that if the president wanted to convey something to Putin, it would be done publicly.

Indonesia is one of the largest importers of wheat from Ukraine, and the blockade on Ukrainian ports has become the main focus of talks between the two presidents (Indonesia and Ukraine, ed) in Kyiv,” Nikiforov told the Pravda news agency, as reported by detikcom on Sunday (3/03/2020). 7/2022).

Nikiforov continued, the issue of grain exports from Ukraine, which was blockaded by Russia, was discussed by Zelensky and Jokowi. According to him, there was no message that Zelensky had left.

Russia is fully responsible for the disruption of exports (Ukrainian wheat – ed) to Indonesia, as well as to other parts of the world. And Russia must also be responsible for the food crisis that could occur unless the blockade of Ukrainian ports is immediately lifted,” said Nikiforov.

“This is what Volodymyr Zelenskyy discussed in detail with Joko Widodo (President of Indonesia, ed),” he added.

“As for the message, if the President of Ukraine wants to talk to someone, he will do it openly, in his daily speeches,” Nikiforov continued.

detikcom has tried to confirm this statement to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Kemlu) and to the Coordinator of the Presidential Special Staff via text message, but so far the two have not commented.
