The Difference Between GERD and Ulcer, Problems Caused by Stomach Acid – All Pages

Where GERD is often referred to as indigestion or vice versa.

Moreover both of these problems are both caused by stomach acid.

According to dr. Bro, GERD is a result of uncomfortable sensations caused stomach acid rise or reflux into the throat and is indicated by heartburn (hot sensation in the chest).

Then stomach acid is a substance produced by parietal cells in the stomach whose function is to break down food.

while indigestion or gastritis comes from the Dutch word which means discomfort in the upper stomach.

This condition is not only caused by stomach acid but can be caused by other things such as hepatitis, pancreatitis, gallstones and others.

However, 90% of the cases of ulcer itself are mostly caused by stomach acid.

So what is the difference between these two conditions?

Meanwhile, ulcers, apart from inflammation of stomach acid, can also be caused by other diseases or dyspepsia.

Those are two things, according to dr. Kaka, the difference between GERD and ulcer.

Although different, both ulcers and GERD can be prevented by adopting a healthy lifestyle, including:

– Avoid consuming substances that can irritate the stomach

– Eat in an orderly manner, don’t eat large portions in a hurry

– Don’t lie down after eating

– Avoid smoking

– Lose weight if overweight

– Avoid stress
