TRIBUN-MEDAN.com – A number of animals undergo metamorphosis so that they change shape from the beginning. Some animals go through a long metamorphosis.
According to the Big Indonesian Dictionary (KBBI), metamorphosis is the transition from (for example, from a caterpillar to a butterfly).
Or in other words, a biological development process that occurs in animals that involves changes in structure and shape after birth or hatching.
Physical changes that occur due to changes in cells in the body.
Metamorphosis consists of cycles called phases. There is two kinds of metamorphosis namely complete and incomplete metamorphosis.
Animals will experience a phase of body formation in a complete metamorphosis from egg to adult, for example butterflies, grasshoppers, flies, mosquitoes, honey bees.
Animals that undergo complete metamorphosis experience changes in the shape of their organs naturally and clearly starting from egg cells to adults.
Whereas in the incomplete metamorphosis phase, the changes in the shape of the animal’s body before adulthood and as adults do not change too much.
The obvious difference is that incomplete metamorphosis does not go through the pupa or cocoon phase.
So, incomplete metamorphosis starts from eggs directly into nymphs and adults, for example crickets, grasshoppers, and cockroaches.
