Libreville, April 3, 2024 (Infos Gabon) – The overwhelming majority of Gabonese leaders are calling for an inclusive national dialogue aimed at resolving economic and social concerns, far removed from previous dialogues of essentially political content.
Since Tuesday April 2, the inclusive national dialogue was launched by the President of the Transition, Head of State, Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema. These meetings, eagerly awaited by all the active forces of the nation, are being held seven months (07) after the liberation coup which took place on August 30, 2023, marked by the seizure of power by the military grouped within the Committee for Transition and Restoration of Institutions (CTRI).
In the background of the work of this mass which should last a month, the drafting of a new constitution capable of giving the country a new political and institutional landscape capable of promoting social justice, democratic principles and good governance. Unlike previous dialogues with a strong political content, the transitional president called on the 600 participants to dissect the thirty-eight thousand contributions collected from the driving forces of the Nation with the aim of redrawing the contours of economic, social and cultural renewal, base of a new common building guaranteeing living together.
Also, the strong man of the CTRI insisted that solutions to the city’s daily problems be the only leitmotif at the heart of these discussions while thinking about the change of paradigms in terms of institutional model favoring an innovative modus operandi and a new res publica governance page.
In order not to miss the boat of this historic meeting, the Gabonese number one encouraged the participants to deploy and conduct their debates without fear while promising that: “The conclusions of this Inclusive National Dialogue will not remain a dead letter, better again, will be translated into texts of laws and regulations”.
Guest and facilitator of the Economic Community and Central African States (CEEAC), the Central African President, Faustin Archange Touadéra, calls for respect for the timetable for this transition, adopted by the Heads of State of CEMAC and ECCAS not without reminding that the end of this exceptional period is on the horizon for August 2025.
Note that the address of President Faustin Archange Touadéra is one of commitment and satisfaction. As a commitment, a promise was made on behalf of his peers to continue to support the political transition in Gabon until the return to constitutional order. On the satisfaction side, the facilitator is delighted with the reintegration of Gabon into sub-regional organizations, after a brief interruption and the freezing by ECCAS of the project to relocate its head office from Libreville to Malabo.
Finally, Faustin Archange Touadéra does not hold back. Thus asking the participants “to help Gabon to adopt a social contract shrouded in justice, peace and social progress”.
From his chair as president of this national palaver, the Metropolitan Archbishop of Libreville, Mgr Jean Patrick Iba-Iba, promised to work in good harmony with all the participants to prepare the foundations of a Gabon united and reconciled with him- even.
