Great Britain: Russian forces approach the city of Bakhmut in eastern Ukraine
LONDON (Reuters) – Russian forces are close to approaching the strategically important city of Bakhmut in eastern Ukraine after advancing two kilometers into the city last week, the British Defense Ministry said Monday.
“Russia continues to give top priority to its offensive operations in the central sector of Donbass, particularly near the city of Bakhmut,” the ministry added in a regular Twitter update.
Bakhmut is located on a main road leading to the cities of Slovensk and Kramatorsk. The two cities are located within the Donbass industrial region, which Russia has not yet fully controlled.
