The development of Red Hat in Brno last year raised 1.7 billion and employed over a thousand people

Red Hat’s US Linux and open source development center, which IBM bought for $ 34 billion, also continued to grow last year. According to a recently published annual report, over a thousand people worked for Red Hat operating from Brno. Revenues increased from 1.463 billion to 1.672 billion crowns with a profit of 148 million.

Brno’s Red Hat develops software for the entire Red Hat group, so revenues represent money paid out through Red Hat Limited and Red Hat Inc. The company also received a subsidy from the Ministry of Industry and Trade in the amount of 30.5 million crowns.

The wage costs of 90 senior employees reached 123.8 million crowns. Wage costs for 925 other employees amounted to 735 million crowns. R&D in Brno is the largest in the world within Red Hat.
