The Dead Space remake was released just a few days ago, but already now fans have no shortage of questions about where the series is headed next. And really, considering how beloved the game has always been and what an incredible comeback it has made with the remake developed by Motive, it’s no wonder. In fact, these issues are discussed in both Motive Studio and EA.
According to Dead Space producer Phil DuCharme, who told GQ in a recent interview that he and others at Motive Studio are interested in taking the franchise further and already have ideas on how to do it. According to DuCharme, EA will soon be discussing the future of the series.
“Of course we hope so,” DuCharme said when asked if Motive plans to continue working on Dead Space. “From my side and from Roman’s side [Кампос-Ориола, креативный директор] there is interest in further exploring Dead Space. I have ideas, that’s for sure. We’re ending this week, we’ll make sure the launch goes well and there are as few technical issues as possible. We’re going to go on vacation and then we’re going to sit down at the table and talk inside EA to say, ‘Well, what’s next?'”
Interestingly, it’s possible that Motive has already started hinting at what it plans to do with Dead Space in the future. A newly discovered easter egg in the remake’s New Game Plus mode seems to hint at plans for a Dead Space 2 remake.
Dead Space came out just a few days ago, but by all appearances, it has already had a good start in terms of sales: at the time of its launch on Steam, it gathered a good number of players and took several positions in the weekly sales chart on the platform.
Dead Space available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
