The game adaptation of the comic book hit Avengers held all the trump cards and was supposed to become a commercial hit. But she didn’t. There are many reasons, but the most important one is the “indolence” of the authors, who focused more on the creation of an economic model than on the game itself, with which they would squeeze money from the players in the long term.
Not even the power of the brand could save the mostly average game in many respects, and so it slowly stopped being talked about. Not even new characters such as Spider-Man or Black Panther could save the situation, so after only two and a half years since the release, further development of the game ended (see our article).
Usually, in similar situations, press departments try to trivialize the situation, saying that the whole team had a lot of fun, but they need to focus on other projects, which of course will be even better. The developer Cezar Virtuso, who participated in the game through the external company Virtuoso, did not choose such diplomatic words, on the contrary. In an interview with Edge magazine (via Games Radar) called the entire development very demanding and did not want to discuss the topic of Avengers any longer. He just said he was sorry for the game.
Virtusu is currently involved in the development of the sequel to The Lords Fallen, which we thought until recently had ended up in developer hell, never to be seen again. So hopefully it will work out better this time.
