“The destruction of our soldiers, our boys, would put an end to all the talks,” he told an Ukrainian Internet media.
“It would be a stalemate because we are not trading with our territory, with our people,” he said, adding that talks were needed to defend the country and end the war.
Zelensky recalled the devastation that followed the departure of Russian forces from the Kiev suburbs of Borodyanka and Bucha, and said the situation in Mariupol could be compared to the “ten Borodyankas”.
According to him, the more Borodyan there will be, the less chance there are of negotiations.
Earlier, the President of Ukraine stated that Mariupol can be rescued only by powerful weapons needed as soon as possible, or negotiations.
