TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – WhatsApp has on Friday introduced the latest update of that app for Windows. The update allows desktop WhatsApp users to make end-to-end encrypted video calls with up to 8 people and audio calls with up to 32 people.
“We launched the new WhatsApp desktop app for Windows,” said Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, in a press release shared with the introduction of the update. He added, “Now you can make E2E encrypted video calls with up to 8 people and audio calls with up to 32 people. person.”
In the written statement he shared, WhatsApp ensured that its function as a mobile application remains firmly rooted today. However, with hundreds of millions of people now using WhatsApp on computers and tablets worldwide, the Meta subsidiary said it needed to focus on creating a better cross-device calling and messaging experience.
The new Windows desktop application loads faster and is built with an interface that is familiar to both WhatsApp and Windows users. “We’ll continue to increase these limits over time so you can stay in touch with friends, family, and coworkers.”
WhatsApp is the largest platform providing a fully end-to-end encrypted experience that enables cross-platform communication between phones, computers, tablets and many others. This means that calls, media, and private messages will always be end-to-end encrypted across users’ devices.
“Since introducing the new multi-device capabilities, we’ve listened to feedback and made improvements including faster device linking and better cross-device syncing, as well as new features like stickers and link previews.”
As it continues to increase the number of devices that support WhatsApp, Meta has also recently introduced a new WhatsApp beta experience for Android tablets. Likewise, just launched, a faster app for the Mac desktop that’s currently in its early beta stages.
“We look forward to bringing WhatsApp to more devices in the future.”
