What can happen when you cross iPhone and smartwatch? Interesting concept. Industrial designer Jonas Daehnert from Germany signed the graphics labeled “iPhone Ultra”. He did not create a concept according to any leaks, he focused on the classic form of the iPhone 14 Pro, which will be complemented by the robustness of the Apple Watch Ultra. And in the final, the concept came out excellent.
The front side is a classic iPhone, the changes are visible in the reinforced sides. On the right side there is a raised locking button, on the left side the volume controls are brought out in a similar vein. The physical switch of silent mode has a roughened surface, the orange key is programmable according to the author of the concept. The reinforced sides transition into a more spacious back (the entire thickness of the concept is 12 mm), thus the phone would have more room for the battery. At the same time, the island with cameras remains without major changes. On the bottom edge, between the pair of speakers, we see the USB-C connector.
Concept of a durable iPhone with the moniker “Ultra”. How do you like it?
Although the designer didn’t make any leaks, he didn’t completely “cook out of water”. The durable iPhone was previously discussed in connection with this year’s iPhone 15 series, where a potential iPhone 15 Ultra would complement the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max models. In addition, Apple would effectively overshadow the missing successor to the iPhone 14 Plus, which is a big loser in Apple’s portfolio.
The most popular iPhones
But according to the latest reports, a similar-looking device could not appear on the market until next year, so it would fall into the iPhone 16 series. However, in connection with the “Ultra” there has not yet been increased resistance, but so far “only” improved specifications. The new top model should have an even better camera, a faster processor, a larger display and possibly a body without connectors in a year’s time compared to other iPhones. Which is the path that Apple apparently wants to take in the future. USB-C should really only play an episodic role among iPhones…
