Five days of cultural adventure in delightful locations, with heart-pleasing theater performances, concerts and children’s programs – the third Déryné Festival was held between July 19 and 23. The event created by the Déryné Program attracted more people than ever before, over five thousand people visited the capital of Zemplén during the five days. KultCamp made its debut within the framework of the festival with the participation of 350 high school students, the title of ‘Ásza Tárbor’ was won by Ambrus Kincső.
The Déryné Festival, held between July 19 and 23, was accompanied by sold-out theater performances, drumbeats, spontaneous dance and childish laughter. Visitors were greeted by a vibrant festival atmosphere in the picturesque locations of Sátoraljaújhely and in the small villages hidden in Zemplén. For five days, at eleven locations, more than seventy free programs awaited culture lovers. More than 5,000 festival-goers visited the event, which featured theater productions, concerts and family programs. Among others, Csík Zenekar, Budapest Jazz Orchestra, Bohemian Betyars, Aurevoir and Balkan Fanatik performed.
The theater performances were greeted by sold-out seats and standing ovations on all five days in the Völgyszínház and in the Kossuth Lajos Cultural Center. It was held for the first time within the framework of the Déryné Festival KultCamp. The camp created by the cooperation of the KultUP program launched by the Déryné Program and the Rákóczi Association hosted 350 high school students. The campers came from Hungary and across the border, from the Highlands, Transcarpathia and Transylvania. The primary goal of KultCamp is to bring students closer to theater and the arts, giving space to the enthusiasm of young people and the arts, nurturing talent as the main mission.
During the 3-day event combining camp experiences, festival life and performing arts competitions, 50 programs awaited high school students, and they could also visit the programs of the Déryné Festival. One of the greatest successes among the students was the sessions of László Kálócz and Krisztián Dányi, but Bálint Turi’s Verimprovisation session, Janka Barnabás and Péter Havasi – Petőfi percek were popular. his performance, as well as AztaBANDA’s compilations. The members of the jury of the talent competition – Gábor Bakos-Kiss, director of the Győr National Theatre, Franz Liszt Prize-winning pianist Andrea Várnagy, and choreographer and dance teacher Szent-Ivány Kinga – “Who knows what?” commented on the productions. In addition to individual performances, exciting co-productions were also created, students inspired each other to create joint productions. The song of the camp was born in one night. As the final result of the competition, the ‘Camp Ace’, Ambrus Kincső was chosen by the jury for his diversity, enthusiasm and talent. Jázmin Gyarmati, Katinka Csizmazia, Lara Takács, Angéla Rostás, Anita Sólyom and the Nagyneyedi Creative Workshop were among the special award winners.
At the end of the camp, Reformed pastor Márton Gergely Kis held a service, and then Márk Kis Domonkosthe director of the Déryné Program, said goodbye to the campers with the following words: “It is an uplifting feeling to stand in front of you at the conclusion of an event dreamed up 11 years ago.
