Menkumham Has Clarified Eddy
The Minister of Law and Human Rights (Menkumham) Yasonna Laoly admitted that he had summoned Deputy Minister of Law and Human Rights Edward Omar Sharif Hiariej (Eddy Hiariej). Eddy, according to Yasonna, has also clarified regarding the Indonesia Police Watch (IPW) report to the KPK.
“I am Already called, my deputy minister was summoned yesterday afternoon, and I asked for clarification and explanation,” Yasonna said at the Presidential Palace Complex, Central Jakarta, Wednesday (15/3).
Yasonna said, to him, Eddy Hiariej gave an explanation exactly as previously conveyed to the public. According to him, Eddy Hiariej denied receiving gratuities.
“And as he conveyed to the public, it is his staff who are lawyers. So I got information that he said his staff is also submitting a request to Bareskrim,” he continued.
When asked whether Eddy Hiariej would be suspended from his position temporarily, Yasonna was reluctant to rush.
“Yes, we’ll see first. I’ve asked the Inspector General, later,” he said. Furthermore, Yasonna asked all parties to wait for the existing legal process. “So we wait aja. Let law enforcement aja,” said Jason.
