“Many dividing lines have accumulated in Bulgarian society. This is a significant problem and it is our task to overcome it in all spheres of life.”
This was stated in his speech by Associate Professor Silvi Kirilov, presiding over the opening session of the 51st National Assembly.
Trust in political parties and institutions is at its lowest point.
The doyen of the new parliament also pointed out that there are a large number of unsolved problems arising from the political crisis in recent years.
“We live in a complex and extremely dynamic time. This requires a sober assessment and analysis of social, societal and financial changes. The world is changing rapidly before our eyes in a time that previously would have taken a decade,” added Kirilov and stated that solving the complex tasks cannot be done without an in-depth dialogue between the parliamentary forces. The other solution is to go to new early elections, he emphasized.
I am optimistic about the possibilities of the Bulgarian parliament to deal with the difficult circumstances, Kirilov emphasized.
I believe in the wisdom of national representatives. I believe in common sense, he added, and wished success to the 51st Parliament of Bulgaria.
He emphasized the responsibility of the 51st Parliament. “People will not forgive anyone in this room for not meeting their expectations. People expect radical changes in the name of the Bulgarian state,” he pointed out and concluded:
“I believe in the power of common sense and I wish success to the 51st Parliament of the Republic of Bulgaria”.
Immediately afterwards, “DPS-New Beginning” left the plenary hall during the GERB-SDS speech.
Peevski started shaking hands with people, and the protesters chanted “DPS”. He took the stage and spoke to the protesters.
“My friends, I am honored that you are here to defend our rights. I’m coming to protect you – never to be second class again!” said Peevski.
“Various fictitious people who robbed Bulgaria for three years say that you are phantoms. You are not phantoms! You are our family, my family – DPS!” he also said.
“Cowards! Do you know now that they are sitting in this hall with bent hearts lest we should go to them. Because if the phantoms go inside, what will happen? Are we illegitimate?” asked Delyan Peevski.
“I warn them for the last time – today everything will be peaceful, because DPS has always been an intelligent party and “New Beginning” is the future for all Bulgarians, regardless of ethnicity,” he added.
“My friends, no one will ever be able to corner you again. This is what I promise you as your leader – I will give my life to this fight. You and your families should be citizens of European Bulgaria,” said Peevski from the stage.
On his way out of parliament, he told reporters:
“Radev’s mandate is expiring. There is little left. I don’t talk nonsense. The president, he’s illegitimate, he’s making a party right now. If he has the courage, let him go to the polls. Enough with the wing. He fears for his full immunity. He knows what he has done with his team of advisors. For three years they robbed Bulgaria like no other. Nothing will be hidden. Everything will work out.”
