The Polish Football Federation is expected to announce in the next few hours that Fernando Santos is no longer the country’s coach. The Polish press reports this Wednesday that, after a two-hour meeting, Cezary Kulesza, the president of the federation, and the Portuguese coach reached an agreement on the end of the contract, which has been in force since January.
The departure of the former Portuguese coach is directly linked to the results of qualifying for the 2024 European Championship. Poland has just 6 points in five games, thanks to victories against Albania (1-0) and the Faroe Islands (2-0) . They lost to the Czech Republic (1-3), Moldova (2-3) and Albania (0-2) so it is difficult for them to qualify directly in a theoretically very accessible group.
