The Departmental Director of Health of Sinématiali, Dr. Lama Karamoko, during a meeting to coordinate the activities of the first quarter of the health district, deplores the lack of doctors, revealing that in the department there is only one doctor for 77614 inhabitants, below the ratio.
”This lack of reference health personnel sometimes forces the director of the general hospital to carry out consultations and to transport patients himself in the ambulance. Because the general hospital does not have a professional paramedic”, testified a health worker, Wednesday, May 04, 2022, in the meeting room of the prefecture.
For Dr. Lama Karamoko, this situation cannot continue and hopes to count on new assignments of health workers to alleviate this problem.
It is recommended, in the standard, a doctor for 7000 inhabitants, a nurse for 5000 inhabitants and a midwife for 3000 inhabitants, it is underlined.
Becoming a health district in May 2019, the department of Sinematiali currently has a referral hospital (the general hospital), 16 public health centers and two denominational health centers. In terms of personnel, there is a doctor, a public pharmacist, 26 nurses, 16 midwives, two laboratory technicians and 40 community health workers.
