The Department of Health releases Wolbachia mosquitoes in Kembangan, West Jakarta, October 4

Jakarta Health Department (Dinkes). it will spread mosquitoes aedes aegypti included wolbachia in RW 07 Kembangan Utara Town, Kembangan District, West Jakarta, on October 4.

“We plan to release Wolbachia-carrying mosquitoes on October 4,” DKI Jakarta Health Office Head Ani Ruspitawati said on Thursday (9/26).

Ani said that West Jakarta is an area with very high cases of dengue hemorrhagic fever (DBD) compared to other areas in Jakarta.

Therefore, the introduction of Aedes aegypti mosquito containing Wolbachia was done for the first time in West Jakarta.


He said the DKI Jakarta Health Office had prepared 859 buckets of Wolbachia mosquitoes out of a total target of 1,474 buckets.

“So all the buckets are released, after they are released the buckets are prepared again, cleaned, filled again, then released again in two weeks. Continuous distribution will be done every two weeks for six months,” he explained.

“After six months, we will evaluate how the population will be,” said Ani.
