The Department of Computer and Informatics Engineering is celebrating 30 years of operation

The Department of Computer Engineering and Informatics of the Polytechnic School of the University of Ioannina invites you to celebrate thirty years operation of the Department on Friday, December 15, 2023 at 6:00 p.m

in Events Hall of the General Assembly – Historical Archive Museum of Epirus.

At a time when the developments in the science of computers and informatics are very fast, with perhaps the most typical example being Artificial Intelligence, the Department of Computer and Informatics Engineering of the University of Ioannina has managed from the beginning to be a star both in the national and in the international spotlight. Therefore, we invite you to get to know us better through the event to celebrate our 30 years of operation.

The event will include three thematic sections. In the first section, members of the Department will speak from their own point of view about the then, now and after of the Department. Afterwards, companies in the field will talk about the current state of IT through the experiences of the Department’s graduates. The event will close with the speech of the invited speaker Emeritus Professor Sergios Theodoridis on the topic of “Artificial Super-intelligence and Neo-mysticism”.

Sergios Theodoridis is Emeritus Professor of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Distinguished Professor at Aalborg University, Denmark and Vice President of the Network for Reform in Greece and Europe. His research interests are focused on the areas: Adaptive Algorithms, Pattern Recognition and Machine Learning, Signal Processing.
